None of us like spam.

Your email providers do their best to keep spam out of your inbox, but sometimes their methods keep legitimate emails out too.

So, I ask that you add me to your list of trusted senders, contacts, or address book. This process is known as ‘whitelisting’, and ensures you receive the mail you want to receive.

If you don’t see an email from Bill Duncan in your inbox, it will likely be in your spam or junk folder. Please open this folder, locate the email, and mark it as ‘not spam’ or ‘not junk’ (the terminology differs between email providers, but it’s all the same thing).

To make sure you receive future emails from me, please add bill@raffertypi.com to your Address Book or Contacts List.

And if the instructions here don’t help, feel free to email me directly at bill@raffertypi.com and I’ll do my best to get you up and rolling again.

Here are some more specific instructions for the most popular mail applications:

iPhone and iPad Mail

iPhones and iPads can mistakenly move mail that you want to see to your junk folder, which you’ll never know about unless you check. Here’s how:

1. Open your mail app and go to the mailboxes screen (you might need to tap ‘Mailboxes’ or your specific mailbox such as ‘Gmail’ in the top left corner).
2. Scroll down to the folders area to find the ‘Junk’ folder.
3. Find and select the email from Bill Duncan (or any other email you don’t want to go to junk), and slide it left to see options.
4. Tap ‘More’.
5. Tap ‘Mark’.
6. Tap ‘Mark as Not Junk’.
7. The message will be moved to your inbox, and subsequent messages should go straight to your inbox rather than junk.
8. If you have multiple email accounts in your iPhone or iPad mail app, you’ll need to check each account’s junk folder.
9. By default, messages in your junk folder are deleted every thirty days, so make sure you check it regularly so you don’t miss relevant emails.

Gmail

If you don’t find an email from Bill Duncan in your inbox, please check your Gmail Spam Folder and:

1. Locate the email from Bill Duncan.
2. Open it, and click the button on the toolbar labeled NOT SPAM.

Then, to make sure my future emails get delivered to your inbox, please add me to your contacts list.

1. Open the email from Bill Duncan.
2. Click the drop down arrow next to “Reply” in the upper right side of the email header.
3. Click “Add Bill Duncan to contacts list”.

Gmail Tabs

If you are using Gmail Tabs such as ‘Promotions’, please open the promotions tab.

1. Find an email from Bill Duncan in ‘Promotions’
2. Grab and drag the email to the Primary Inbox Tab.
3. After doing so, you will receive an alert asking if you want to do this with all future emails from me. Click Yes

Yahoo Mail

If you don’t find an email from Bill Duncan in your inbox, please check your Yahoo Spam Folder and:

1. Locate the email from Bill Duncan.
2. Open it, and click the button on the toolbar labeled NOT SPAM.

Then, to make sure my future emails get delivered to your inbox, please create a filter to automatically send email from Bill Duncan to your inbox:

1. Move your mouse over or tap the Gear icon in the top right navigation bar.
2. Select Settings from the drop-down list.
3. Choose Filters located on the left side of the page.
4. Click the Add button on the filters page.
5. Create a name such as Whitelist in the Filter name field.
6. In the From field leave the default contains selected.
7. Enter my email address bill@raffertypi.com in the text box next to Contains.
8. Choose the destination folder to which you would like the message delivered. For example: Inbox.
9. Click or tap Save.
10. You will see in the next screen “Deliver to Inbox if From contains Bill Duncan”
11. Click or tap Save on this screen.
12. You will be returned to your Yahoo Inbox.

AOL Webmail

If you don’t find an email from Bill Duncan in your inbox, please check your AOL Spam Folder and:

1. Locate the email from Bill Duncan.
2. Right click on it, and click NOT SPAM in the resulting list.

Then, to make sure my future emails get delivered to your inbox, please add me to your Address Book:

1. Open the email from Bill Duncan.
2. Click the show details link next to Bill Duncan in the from field.
3. Move your mouse over or tap bill@raffertypi.com to show the menu.
4. Click or tap Add contact in the menu displayed.
5. Add Bill Duncan to the name fields.
6. Click Add contact. Email from me will now be delivered to your inbox.
